KTM’s 1290 Super Duke R, aka “The Beast,” is one of the most potent naked sportbikes ever made, with a 1,301cc V-twin that ripped off 152 horsepower and 93 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheel in our “Sit-Up Sportbikes” comparo. For 2017, KTM will offer a sport-touring version called the 1290 Super Duke GT, with roomier ergonomics, an adjustable handlebar and control levers, a larger 6.1-gallon fuel tank, a small fairing with an adjustable windscreen, heated grips and saddlebags. Changes to the engine help it run smoother without sacrificing performance, and the GT is equipped with WP semi-active suspension, Pirelli Angel GT sport-touring tires and a full suite of electronics: riding modes, Motorcycle Stability Control with cornering ABS, Motor Slip Regulation, Hill Hold Control, a quickshifter, LED cornering lights and tire pressure monitoring. It should be in dealers in fall 2016; pricing is TBD.
All I can think of is Spy vs. Spy. Ugghhhhhh
Agreed! I reckon I could live with the looks though, most of the time I would be looking over the handlebars anyway. It really is a very well specced machine though and I bet it goes like the clappers. I’m definitely going to try one out.
To bad KTM doesn’t make a shaft drive bike.
I guess you have to get used to the look (and agree about the shaft drive comment)
Otherwise I love the features, nothing is missing, what an awsome machine this is!
I’m in the market for a new bike, I will wait to see this one in the flesh to decide.
