Triumph’s full-size Tiger Explorer adventure bike line has been updated for 2016, with six models to choose from, three geared toward street riding (XR, XRx and XRt) and three toward off-road riding (XC, XCx and XCa). All are powered by the same liquid-cooled, 1,215cc in-line triple with shaft drive that now makes more horsepower and torque thanks to a new exhaust system. New features, depending on the model, include cornering-optimized ABS and traction control, semi-active suspension, riding modes, Hill Hold Control, an electrically adjustable windscreen, heated grips/seats, low-seat options and much more.

The entry-level Tiger Explorer XR and XC models get new WP adjustable suspension, while the other four models (XRx, XRt, XCx and XCa) get new Triumph Semi Active Suspension, which allows the rider to electronically control the adjustment of the front and rear suspension damping and rear spring preload to reflect the terrain being covered and load carried.

The Tiger Explorer offers as standard multi-channel switchable ABS and traction control on the entry-level XR and XC models, while the other models get cornering-optimized ABS and traction control. The Explorer XRx, XRt, XCx and XCa feature an Inertial Measurement Unit that, through a series of strategically positioned sensors, monitors and responds to the bike’s movement status, calculates the lean angle of the bikes and uses this measurement to ensure greater stability by optimizing the performance of the ABS and traction control systems.
