For 2012, Yamaha’s Star Motorcycles division is launching a factory-custom line, called SCL (Star Custom Line). The first model will be the Raider SCL, featuring chrome wheels and drive belt pulley co-designed by Star and Performance Machine, a chrome belt guard, stainless mesh cables and lines and a high-end six-layer process for the Blazing Orange paint job with custom graphics. It also gets a numbered, limited edition tank badge and two-tone distressed leather seat with color matched stitching. Production will be limited to 500 units, priced at $19,990.
Styling for the Roadliner/Stratoliner family has been toned down a bit, with a new tank emblem replacing the trio of chrome accents and the front fender stay removed. The Roadliner S comes in Seashell ($15,390) and the Stratoliner S, with a windscreen, leather-covered locking saddlebags and passenger backrest, comes in Intense Black ($16,590). The Stratoliner Deluxe gets a new hand control for the iPod interface, chrome trim for the fairing mounted speakers, a closeable lid for the iPod/storage compartment and a Garmin zumo 665 GPS, and comes in Liquid Silver ($17,990).
The Royal Star Venture S gets iPod integration and a free iPod, and comes in Intense Black ($20,190). The Vmax, with new gray seat cover stitching and new side covers that match the polished metal look of the intake covers, looks menacing in Matte Black ($19,890). And the V Star 250 gets new handlebars and will be offered in Raven only ($4,190).
The rest of the Star lineup returns unchanged except for colors and prices: Raider in Liquid Silver ($14,590); Raider S in Raven ($15,190) or Nebulous Purple ($15,390); Road Star S in Raven ($13,490); Road Star Silverado S in Lunar Pearl White ($15,590); Stryker in Raven ($11,090), Candy Red ($11,340) and Reddish Copper ($11,340); V Star 1300 in Candy Red ($10,990); V Star 1300 Tourer in Granite Grey ($12,090); V Star 950 in Liquid Silver or Candy Red ( $8,490); and V Star 950 Tourer in Raven or Impact Blue ($9,490).
Star’s 2012 lineup will be available on a rolling basis from September through February. For more information, see your dealer or www.starmotorcycles.com.
cool bike how price
This new Raider may appeal to the riders who just climbed off their “muscle” bikes for their first cruiser. The styling is so over-indulgent and tasteless that it practically screams “More chrome, more angles, more chrome, more doo-dads, MORE CHROME!!!” GEEZE! Everything looks like it was applied with a shovel!
Yamaha, this is disgusting and you should be embarrassed.
