The Ducati Monster naked bike enters its fifth generation for 2026 with a change of engine, new ergos, updated styling, and new tech. The base model now goes by the Monster+ monicker, which used to denote an up-spec model accessorized with a flyscreen and passenger seat cover – both features are now standard.

Starting with the engine, the previous 937cc Testastretta powerplant has been swapped for the 890cc V2, which is also used by the Panigale, Streetfighter, and Multistrada. The new engine is 13 lb lighter than the Testastretta Evoluzione and includes variable intake timing. It makes a claimed 110 hp at 9,000 rpm and 67 lb-ft of torque at 7,250 rpm.

The monocoque frame uses the new engine as a stressed member, and the bike includes a double-sided swingarm inspired by the one used on the Panigale V4. Overall, Ducati claims that the new Monster+ weighs 8.8 lb less than the outgoing fourth generation, weighing in at 386 lb without fuel.

  1. Big improvement in looks and motor over the 4th generation Monster 937. I think the new Monster will help Ducati grab new customers to try their brand out. I’m glad that they didn’t bump the price up too much.

  2. If I were to buy a Ducati, I’d have to buy the Streetfighter V2 over the Monster. You can’t beat the intimidating appearance of the Streetfighter. The extra HP/torque and slightly larger 4 gallon fuel tank are additional benefits.
