October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every year. The purpose of the campaign is to increase breast cancer awareness, raise funds for research and to remind women to be aware that early detection is key to survival. With that in mind, we wanted to let you know about the Pink Label Collection from Harley-Davidson, a new-for-2010 selection of the company’s most popular women’s items, and a few things for the guys.
H-D’s Pink Label Collection includes 24 women’s and four men’s items that each feature a touch of pink. The Pink Label Collection was conceived and designed by the Harley-Davidson Women’s MotorClothes Product Development and Design team. “We were inspired to create the Pink Label Collection by the countless women riders and passengers who we’ve encountered on the open road and at events who’ve been impacted by breast cancer,” said Kathy Whalen, category manager, general merchandise, Harley-Davidson.
Ten percent of the proceeds from every Pink Label item sold helps fund the YourShoes 24/7 Support Center at www.networkofstrength.org. The YourShoes center helped nearly 50,000 people in 2008 alone and is staffed by breast cancer survivors who provide immediate emotional relief at any time of the day or night every day of the year to people affected by breast cancer. The organization can match callers up with a survivor who is similar; for instance, if the caller is a young single mother, she can speak with a young single mom. Said Margaret C. Kirk, president and CEO of Breast Cancer Network of Strength, “We’re thrilled to have the support of Harley-Davidson, as well as their family of employees, dealers and owners. With their help, we can make sure no one faces this disease alone.”
Some of the riding merchandise in the collection includes a lightweight leather jacket, a half helmet and full-finger leather gloves. Also included are hats and hoodies, and a selection of shirts ranging from tank tops, short-sleeved T-shirts and long-sleeved Henleys, as well as other merchandise. See your Harley-Davidson dealer or check out www.harley-davidson.com/PinkLabel for merchandise and to order.
This is an ongoing campaign for Harley-Davidson, by the way, with proceeds continuing to go to YourShoes 24/7.
Then there’s the Vega XTS Ride Pink Motorcycle Half Helmet fromwww.GearUpHelmets.com for $89.99, with proceeds being donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The helmet is available in sizes 2XS-2XL, meets DOT standards and the interior is made with Wick-Dri super-absorbent fabric.
Maybe I’ll just have to order one of everything!
