A few KTM 390 models from model year 2025 have been recalled, with KTM requesting owners visit an authorized KTM dealer to replace the side stand spring. The recall includes the 390 Adventure R, 390 Adventure X, 390 Enduro R, and 390 SMC R.
These models with forged side stands may experience a break in the side stand spring due to engine vibrations. To prevent this issue, owners are recommended to have the side stand spring replaced and have a rubber protection fitted by their dealer. During the visit, a new side stand sensor retaining plate, which adjusts the trigger range of the side stand switch, will also be added.
Until riders can get their bikes into the dealer for this fix, they are recommended to use a rubber band or something similar to secure the side stand. The workshop appointment will be covered free of charge at authorized KTM dealers, and owners will be notified of the recall by letter.
This announcement comes a couple weeks after a recall affecting KTM’s 390 range in model years 2024-2025, as well as 2024 Husqvarna Vitpilen and Svartpilen 401s. Compared to the earlier recall, the side stand recall does not include the 390 Duke. The recall from Dec. 5 addresses an issue that causes the 399cc Single to stall at low rpm.
