The new Triumph TXP-12 and TXP-16 are electric dirtbikes for young riders. With age ranges of 3-5 and 5-7 respectively, the TXP bikes offer parental control of the riding experience and a modular design to be suitable for a range of skill levels and riding experiences.
The bikes were built through Triumph’s acquisition of Oset, which took place in 2022. While Oset offers similar-sized electric dirtbikes called the 12.5R and 16.0R, the Triumph-branded models feature a few key differences, including brushless motors, waterproof lithium-ion batteries, and the modular design.
The 2-in-1 design allows both bikes to quickly switch between a trials bike and a seated off-road bike by removing or adding the seat and front fender. Both bikes also include safety features like a magnetic safety lanyard and two-stage startup, as well as a PIN-protected control panel that allows parents to set parameters for throttle response, speed, and power. The battery can be removed without tools, and the LED panel shows real-time battery status.
The TXP-12 is the smaller of the two and is designed for riders aged between 3-5. The TXP-12 rides on a steel frame, weighs 50.5 lb, and is powered by a 600-watt 43-volt brushless motor with a 14-mph top speed and a claimed three hours of light riding on a full charge. It features a seat height of 17.5 inches with the seat or 14.2 inches without the seat, as well as child-sized grips and short-reach brake levers. The fork offers 1.97 inches of suspension travel, and the rear shock offers 2.36 inches with preload adjustability. Ground clearance is 5.98 inches.
The TXP-16 is the next step up for riders aged 5-7, and it includes some upgraded components for youngsters looking to advance their riding skills. It’s powered by a 765-watt, 43-volt motor with a top speed of 19 mph, it includes hydraulic disc brakes, and it weighs 59 lb. Seat height is 21.6 inches with the seat and 17.7 inches without, and its suspension travel is increased to 3.15 inches front and 3.54 inches rear. Ground clearance is 9.06 inches.
Both the Triumph TXP-12 and Triumph TXP-16 will be available in Triumph Performance Yellow and Graphite Black. The TXP-12 will have an MSRP of $1,695, and the TXP-16 will be priced at $2,295. Triumph says that early orders can be placed now to guarantee pre-Christmas delivery. Visit the Triumph website for more information.
