The Triumph Originals 2025 custom competition invited dealers and builders to submit a custom Triumph Modern Classic motorcycle to represent their country and be judged. Out of eight entries, the judges chose five finalists, and the public voted for the overall winner.
The competition win went to the Brazil team for their moody Speed Twin 1200 custom cafe racer built by Teydi Deguchi of Shibuya Garage in São Paulo. The bike, named “Gaijin,” features hand-crafted details like the scallop-design paintwork, a creased tank, and reworked tail.
“This was the most original and coherent of the builds,” said the judges regarding the winning bike. “It has a presence that is muscular and athletic combined with a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail. A custom build should be instantly desirable but also be something you want to be seen riding. This bike is both.”
The five finalists chosen by the judges were teams from Brazil, France, Italy, Thailand, and the U.K. Mark of Excellence awards were also handed out by individual judges. Judge Kengo Kimura, founder of Heiwa Motorcycle in Japan, awarded the Brazil team the Mark of Excellence for Craftsmanship.
Judge Ricardo Pessoa, founder and creative director of Coolnvintage in Portugal, awarded the U.K. team with a Mark of Excellence for British Originality for its “Bonneville Sunraiser,” built on the T100 platform by Stockwell Design at Triumph London. The U.K. bike was inspired by the 1960s British rock-and-roll movement and features polished aluminum, stainless steel, and bright colors.
Judge Quique Berna, cofounder and creative director at Tamarit Motorcycles in Spain, gave the Italian team a Mark of Excellence for Style for its custom Bonneville Bobber built by Giuseppe Carucci. This classic build was inspired by the original 1930s and 1940s Speed Twins and features precision engineering techniques.
