Taking a stroll through any big-box dealership these days is an exciting experience, with a cornucopia of motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, personal watercraft and other toys destined to make the weekend that much enjoyable. Well, we can add the three-wheel 2021 Polaris Slingshot lineup to the list of enticing offerings that feature more options, accessories, an updated optional automatic transmission and optional paddle shifters.
The 2021 Polaris Slingshot autocycle lineup includes the S, SL, R and range-topping R Limited Edition. Of course, their main differences are reflected in standard features and accessories, while the chassis and 1,997cc 4-cylinder ProStar 2.0L engine are shared between them all.
The biggest news for 2021 is the updated AutoDrive automatic transmission, first launched last year. Engineers have completely retuned the AutoDrive transmission to provide improved shifting at low and high speeds while ensuring that the shifts are smoother, faster and more consistent. Better yet, the new AutoDrive calibration is available with 2020 Slingshot models. Additionally, AutoDrive is available as an option on every Slingshot model.
As user-friendly as an automatic transmission is, sometimes pilots want more control. This year, wheel-mounted paddle shifters are available as an option on any 2020-2021 Slingshot equipped with AutoDrive — and are standard on R models.
Hill-hold control is also available as an option on any 2020-2021 Slingshot.
There is a laundry list of accessories available for the Slingshot line, and to help buyers choose, it’s broken down into three main categories: The Drive, The Style and The Sound.
Helping you kick out the jams in your Slingshot is a sound system by Rockford Fosgate, which is considerably beefed-up in the exclusive R Limited Edition model. Also, Apple CarPlay is available as an on S and SL and standard on both R models.
The entire 2021 Polaris Slingshot range is available in several trim packages and is as follows: The Slingshot S is available in White Lighting, in both manual ($19,999) and AutoDrive ($21,699) transmissions. The Slingshot S with Technology Package 1 is available in White Lightening and the same transmission options. The Slingshot SL is available in Midnight Blue or Red Pearl, with a manual ($24,999) or AutoDrive ($23,999) option. The Slingshot R is offered in Stealth Blue and Sunrise Orange and manual ($31,299) and AutoDrive (32,299) options. Lastly, the Slingshot R Limited Edition features an exclusive Neon Fade pain and is available in manual ($32,799) and AutoDrive ($34,799).
