Americade Motorcycle Rally is June 2-7 in New York

The annual Americade Motorcycle Rally will be held June 2-7, 2014, in Lake George, New York, and organizers are calling it the ideal “motorcation” destination this June. One of the world’s largest multi-brand motorcycle tours, this event allows you and your friends to explore the Adirondacks on and off the bike, rub shoulders with other motorcycle enthusiasts, and watch shows and demonstrations.

Below are just a few of the interactive activities happening this year:

Opening Ceremonies: Rider magazine is once again sponsoring the Opening Ceremonies on Monday, June 2, with thousands of dollars in door prizes from many manufacturers. The Opening Ceremonies also include live music and desert.

Featured Speakers: On Tuesday evening, June 3, Rider magazine’s Road Test Editor Greg Drevenstedt will be the featured speaker. Drevenstedt has 300 different motorcycles under his belt and he has learned many of his motorcycling lessons the hard way. On Tuesday evening, he’ll share his thrills, spills, and most embarrassing moments on two wheels. Attendees will be invited to share their own highs and lows, with audience members voting on who wins prizes for the best stories. Other featured speakers include: Maggie McNally, MSF Rider Coach and AMA Board member; Fred Rau, Co-founder of Motorcycle Consumer News; and Alonzo Bodden, winner of NBC’s Last Comic Standing and motorcycle junkie.

Veterans Honored at Parade: On Saturday, June 7, a special tribute to veterans will take place during the Americade Parade. The Dunlop Parade will benefit the Building For America’s Bravest Foundation, an organization building specially adapted homes for catastrophically injured vets. Building For America’s Bravest is currently building a home for a New York-based vet, and all spectators are invited to donate to this cause at the Americade Info booth at the corner of Beach Road and Canada Street in Lake George. Also in the parade and benefiting from proceeds will be the Wounded Warrior Project, the Marine Corps League, and Operation AdoptASoldier. In honor of the 70th anniversary of DDay, WWII Vets will be seated alongside the parade route, with the Dunlop Parade participants paying tribute to the vets as they pass by. Later, the WWII vets and veterans who served in during more recent conflicts, as well as those in current military service, are invited to add their names to the wall at the Fort William Henry museum. This wall will become part of a new exhibit honoring all those that served.

Adirondack Adventures: By air, land and sea, you can explore the Adirondacks on four fantastic adventures. From flying high on a private plane tour and gently lifting off in a beautiful hot air balloon, to saddling up for a guided horseback ride or ziplining through the largest aerial treetop adventure park in the USA, Americade offers impressive escapades throughout the Adirondacks.

Factory Demos and TourExpo: Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki and more offer factory demos and displays creating the perfect opportunity to learn about the bikes you dream about. Talk to the experts or take the opportunity to enjoy a test ride. At the Tour Expo peruse through hundreds of vendors who sell just about every motorcycling accessory, gadget and aftermarket product available.

Off The Bike: Americade also offers many activities that can be enjoyed off the bike. Among the most popular activities are the catered boat cruises on Lake George, the professional rodeo at the Painted Pony Ranch with a Texas-style barbeque, and the comedy shows with Alonzo Bodden—winner of NBC’s Last Comic Standing and an avid motorcyclist. Evenings are also full of fun with spectacular fireworks, ghost tours and desserts.

Scenic Tours: New York is home to 10,000 miles of some of the most incredible scenic driving routes and byways. For those who ride, choose from a variety of Non-Guided Mini Tours and Guided MiniTours that take you on the best low traffic and winding scenic routes in the Lake George region and Adirondacks, including the Adirondack Trail, Olympic Trail, North Fork Trail and more.

Thrill Shows: The thrilling Stunt Shows and the Wall of Death will have you sweating with every turn, trick and jump.  Incredible and death-defying stunts will be performed by the Brigade FMX team, Swoop Stunt Riders, The Central Florida Motorcycle Drill Team and Circus Una, an all- female, motorcycle-high-wire-trapeze-aerial-thrill-act, throughout the week.  Be sure to witness the Daredevils Unlimited’s Wall of Death motorcycle stunt show with acts such as the “Dips and Dives of Death” and “ShotGun Ride,” – all mere inches from where you stand.

Americade is a convention of tourers, sport tourers and cruisers enjoying a week long festival of motorcycling, including guided tours through the beautiful Adirondack Park and Green Mountains of Vermont, a motorcycle trade show in Lake George with over 200 vendors, plus demos and displays from nearly all the major motorcycle manufacturers, and much more.
