Launched in 2016, the Street Twin has become the best-selling modern classic in Triumph’s lineup. With some performance updates for 2019, that’s not likely to change.

The big news is a power increase, up a claimed 10 horsepower to a peak of 65. Along with a redline that’s now bumped to 7,500 and the same 59 lb-ft torque output, the Street Twin should be even more fun to ride. The engine also got a new magnesium cam cover, a new lightweight crankshaft, dead shafts and balance shafts and a new mass-optimized clutch cover.

A 10-percent bump in horsepower? Yes, please.

A new Brembo 4-piston front caliper, cartridge-style fork, torque assist clutch and improved rider ergonomics round out the performance changes. The Street Twin also benefits from new Road and Rain ride modes, a new optional TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system), ABS, switchable traction control and slightly thicker seat foam for better comfort.

A new, thicker seat should improve ergonomics and comfort, especially on longer rides.

It gets a minor refresh as well, with new cast aluminum wheels, a new logo, restyled instruments and improved fit and finish throughout the bike. The Street Twin is built to accessorize, and Triumph offers two new inspiration kits meant to jumpstart rider customization.

The Urban Ride kit adds a stripped-down style including a brown quilted bench seat, fender removal kit, a waxed cotton pannier and other styling bits. The Cafe Custom kit turns the Twin into a cafe racer, with a FOX rear shock, slip-on Vance & Hines mufflers, a fender removal kit and more.

The 2019 Street Twin will be available in Matte Ironstone, Korosi Red and Jet Black. MSRP is $9,300 and we can expect to see bikes in dealerships in January 2019.

Fit and finish on the Twin is said to be improved…not that we noticed anything wrong with the last model.
