Yamaha has released a new “Journey Further” video (see below) which highlights riding experience testimony from Yamaha motorcycle owners and announces the introduction of a new touring motorcycle model in early September.
“We were thrilled to introduce a new transcontinental touring model earlier this year with the unveiling of the Star Venture, and we are looking forward to the exciting introduction of another new model in this luxury motorcycle segment,” said Derek Brooks, Yamaha’s Motorcycle Product Line Manager. “Although details elude the video we posted today, we encourage everyone to check out our website on September 6th as we continue our journey.”

Complete details about this new motorcycle model, as well as an accompanying video, will be posted on Wednesday, September 6th, 2017, at 7:30 a.m. PDT on Yamaha’s website and social media channels.
Golly, can we possibly hope for another V-twin cruiser?
One can be forgiven for thinking that this particular “new model” is the upgraded (new electronic built in goodies, inc. gps, stereo, etc.) FJR1300 we were expecting after the initial teaser…..or a touring version of the V-Max?
AAAH, maybe the V4 touring bike everyone was hoping for with the Venture….
The V-Max came from a touring bike. The Venture.
Still waiting for an FJ-7. NOW THAT WOULD BE EXCITING & WELL RECEIVED, UNLIKE WHAT THERE PROBABLY GOING TO SPRING ON US. ANOTHER BLOODY BAGGER.
Maybe an FJR1600?
Hmmmm. Doubtful, but interesting. At least something with promise.
We can only hope that it will be lighter, more powerful, better fuel mileage and comf table enough for all day riding.
Why do manufacturers think that the only way that people want to tour is with a gigantic, mega-equipped, very expensive touring bike?
I’ll tell you what I wish Yamaha would make – a Versys 650LT competitor with shaft drive, hydraulically adjusted valves, and styling that didn’t come from an origami catalog. Price it under $10K and I’ll buy it.
YES!! YES!! (only problem is Honda tried it couple of times in the past & couldn’t sell them).😕 I STILL WANT ONE THOUGH. A 750 or 800 wouldn’t hurt to carry the shaft.
That is a great suggestion.
Absolutely! Bring back something like the Hondamatic, but with an engine that doesn’t spit oil out the head gasket. I loved everything else about that bike. It would need built in bags and trunk and a 750-800 cc engine,.

Bob, isn’t the Royal Star a V4 (or do I have the wrong model) ?
The Royal Star Venture was.
Maybe a Stratoliner SCL(HMMMMM). We can only hope. Don’t know why they rid of such a great bike.
Hate to say, but they interviewed their v twin cruiser riders. …hint hint! Not the sport touring riders on FJRs or Fzs etc. I was really hoping for something NEW! BUT will probably get a heavy v-twin cruiser with saddle bags and a windshield! ! Look folks a NEW TOURING BIKE! ! LOL
Just like all the other bikes that manufactures are having slumping sale of? Look at Harley’s problems… It’s just just their prices causing declining sales.
Agree, I am really taking a hard look at the KTM and BMW offerings
If the teaser video of little to no lean angle in the corners are any hint of things to come, I’m very much not interested in the slightest.. I’m guessing that is yet another bagger/cruiser or some other overweight lump on 2 wheels that’s so low to the ground as to drag hard parts FAR before the ride can become even mildly interesting.
Does that mean it’s not an FJ-7?
If it’s not, what’s the point?
Hey, all you peeps speculating on what it is, do your research. It’s already been announced, despite what this article says. As to specs, check their website: https://www.yamahamotorsports.com/transcontinental-touring/models/star-venture
Yes, the Star Venture was announced back in early June. Tomorrow (September 6), Yamaha will be announcing a DIFFERENT touring model in addition to the Venture.
