Without the weight of a passenger, a sidecar can be dangerously unstable, so I volunteered for Sherpa duty and carried all the tools, extra water, extra fuel and gear for our three-person riding group.
The number sticker on the front of my sidecar (and a matching wristband I was wearing) let the District 37 crews at each checkpoint know I arrived safely.
Descending out of the mountains and into the valley toward Nevada State Route 160, my spirits rose. Not only was the scenery breathtaking, but I knew I was on the homestretch and would reach the finish line soon!
