At my back is the Hood Canal, and I am looking up the Hamma Hamma River toward Mount Bretherton in the Olympic National Park.
That is 11,245-foot Mount Hood on a fairly hazy day; lots of people try to get to the summit every year, but it's a technical climb, not a simple hike.
Ralph and I are discussing the possibility of a swim in Crescent Lake, on the north side of Olympic National Park; we decided not to.
