At my back is the Hood Canal, and I am looking up the Hamma Hamma River toward Mount Bretherton in the Olympic National Park.
This bridge was originally built in 1929 for a narrow-gauge railway that could carry fresh-cut trees across the Skokomish River 800 feet below...and later the tracks were taken up and the bridge paved to allow the humongous logging trucks (below) to continue the operation.
