It was another rainy Ride for Kids this past Sunday, but that didn’t dampen the enthusiasm for motorcyclists in the North Carolina Research Triangle area. More than 200 riders put on their rain gear to raise $80,556 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation on May 1, the first day of Brain Tumor Awareness Month.
The riders also came to Jordan Lake State Recreation Area to raise hope for local brain tumor survivors Cheryl, Charlotte, Dylan, Ella Cate, Jamilyn, Julia and Samantha. Two of these Ride for Kids Stars, Julia and Samantha, are recipients of the PBTF’s college scholarship for brain tumor survivors. Dr. Oren Becher, a brain tumor researcher at Duke University whose work is funded by the PBTF, spoke at the event. The program was emceed by Ron the Ref and brain tumor survivor Bob Dumas, host of G105’s annual Bob’s Buddies Radiothon to benefit the PBTF.
Donations are still being accepted online at www.rideforkids.org/triangle. Fundraisers will receive incentive credit through June 1.
The next Ride for Kids event is in Murfreesboro, Tenn., on Sunday, May 15. Sign up today and ride with us to cure the kids!
