Since last fall, Yamaha has announced many new, updated and returning models as part of its 2016 lineup, including cruisers under the Star Motorcycles brand.
2016 Yamaha FJR1300A / FJR1300ES Pricing
Last November, Yamaha announced updates for 2016 to its FJR1300A (standard) and FJR1300ES (electronic suspension) sport tourers, including the addition of a 6th gear, revised transmission ratios and a new assist-and-slipper clutch. The headlights are now LED, the front fairing features new, three-stage cornering lights that are activated by a multi-axis Inertial Measurement Unit and the instrumentation has been updated.
The 2016 Yamaha FJR1300A and FJR1300ES will be available in Cobalt Blue in March with an MSRP of $16,390 for the FJR1300A and $17,990 for the FJR1300ES.
2016 Yamaha XSR900 Pricing
A new model for 2016 is the café racer-styled XSR900, which is powered by the same liquid-cooled, 847cc Crossplane Crankshaft Concept in-line triple found in the FZ-09 naked sportbike and FJ-09 sport tourer. The XSR900 will be available in April for an MSRP of $9,490 in Matte Gray or $9,990 in 60th Anniversary Yellow & Black.
Returning for 2016 is the 321cc, twin-cylinder YZF-R3 sportbike, which debuted last year. With supersport styling similar to its R1 and R6 siblings, the R3 is a lightweight, comfortable, user-friendly bike with just the right amount of pep. The 2016 YZF-R3 will be available in March in Team Yamaha Blue/Matte Silver, Matte Gray or Intensity White/Rapid Red with a MSRP of $4,990.
2016 TMAX Scooter
Powered by a 530cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, DOHC, twin-cylinder engine and updated last year, the TMAX maxi-scooter returns for 2016. Its available in Platinum Gray for an MSRP of $10,490.
2016 Zuma 125 Scooter
Yamaha’s Zuma 125 has been updated for 2016 with new off-road-inspired styling, improved fuel economy, an upgraded rear brake and suspension, roomier ergonomics, enhanced storage and added convenience. The Zuma 125 is built around a steel frame with aggressive tires on new cast aluminum wheels, and protective brush deflectors and fork tube boots further emphasize the off-road look.
Powering the 2016 Zuma 125 is a compact, 125cc, four-stroke, four-valve engine with a ceramic-composite cylinder liner and electronic fuel injection. Claimed fuel economy is 103 mpg and the tank holds 1.7 gallons of fuel, for a range of 175 miles. A fully-automatic, V-belt transmission and push-button electric starting make the Zuma 125 easy to ride, and standard center and side stands and a locking ignition switch cover make it easy to park and secure. The seat is big enough for two, and there’s a locking storage compartment underneath.
The 2016 Yamaha Zuma 125 will be available in March in Radical White or Ultramarine Blue for an MSRP of $3,390.
New Color for FZ-07 and FZ-09
The popular FZ-07 and FZ-09 middleweight naked sportbikes both get a new Armor Gray color option for 2016, with bright light green wheels. The 2016 Yamaha FZ-07 in Armor Gray has an MSRP of $6,990, the same as the Raven and Matte Silver models. The 2016 Yamaha FZ-09 in Armor Gray will have an MSRP of $8,190, the same as the Raven and Impact Blue models. Both will be available in late February.
