Women in the Wind is celebrating its 35th anniversary in Toledo, Ohio, from August 7-9, 2014, with over 250 women members expected to attend. In 1979, Becky Brown took out a newspaper ad inviting lady motorcycle riders to join her for a scenic ride along the Maumee River, near Toledo, Ohio. This simple ad brought out almost a dozen ladies at a time when it was uncommon for women to ride motorcycles. Now 35 years later, this ride has grown into the largest organization of its kind for women riders with over 100 chapters in four countries.
WITW attributes its success to the diversity of its members by allowing riders of all makes of motorcycles, as well as welcoming chapters to be active in all organizational processes.
