ok...greenman...I've read and reread that website untill my eyes almost popped out....those folks have so many friggin' part numbers....I'm not sure what is what.
I've sent them an email asking for a clarification.

I have a question....do you have to order the heat shields seperately ??
I can't tell from the website...if you order an exhaust system, if you get the whole package or have to order it piecemeal.

2004 H-D Heritage Classic
motor is an TC88 uprgaded to 95".
I have the floorboards.
my bike has an oil cooler out front between the forks....don't think this should be a problem though.
I kinda like the look of the extended pipes.....I think it's model 00-1191 +5"
but when I check their list, I see several other versions....such as 00-1168 or 00167 that also look good....not sure if the extended 5" will hurt performance..
I like the "C" version pipes...not the "B"
and I like the slash cut...sidewise...not down.....
not sure what else you need to know....my bike has all the usual SE upgrades...high compression pistons....42mm Mikuni carb...SE race ignition...blah blah....it's around 100 hp and 100 ft.lbs on the dyno as it stands right now...
just sounds like crap...well, maybe not crap...but like a truck...
I have'nt figured out yet whether it's the high compression pistons which are responsible for the sound.....or the SE 2-1 pipes I have on right now.

I have reviewed the******out of exhausts on the internet....I have spent hours reviewing and researching everything I could find about exhausts....etc...
I have discovered that the SE 2-1 pipes are actually made by SuperTrapp.....
H-D no longer markets or sells the SE 2-1 pipes....
I'm an engineer by profession, so I will research the******out of everything...

for sure....high compression pistons have a distinctive " bark"....a very sharp explosive kind of sound...very noticeable at idle or low rpm...once I crank it up.....it's not so noticeable.....but by then....the noise is so friggin' loud...it would'nt make any difference...

I'll need all the heat shields...special gaskets...etc.....I'm a fair wrench...so will do all my own work....

thanks for your interest and help with me exhaust project...

to date I have reviewed the following makes...
RB Racing
Vance and Hines
Cobra
Rineharts
Thunderheaders
Samson

I only review the 2-1 pipes...I'm not interestes in anything else....

That's what Rineharts will cost you, and there's no comparison, IMHO. There's no question in my mind regarding performance, and I personally love how RBs sound (but that's a totally subjective thing).

Agree completely on the C style. 5" Extended will not affect performance. 00-1191 is definitely the right part number. Heatshields are a good call on the chrome pipes for color consistency, although I'd say that about any pipe made.

I'm glad you enjoy the website, hope you're just as happy with the pipes, should you choose them.

Greenman.

I went to our local bike night last night....my bike was the only bike there with 2-1 pipes.
Probably 100 bikes there....every conceiveable tpye of pipes to be seen....but mind is the only 2-1.
I asked around...nobody has ever even heard of RB Racing pipes...it must be a Californian thing....I even spoke to some pretty reputable wrenches that were there...local custom builders....never heard of RB Racing...but after reading that website...I'm sold....watch this space :-)

I've seen a total of ONE bike, in person, over the years with RB pipes. They made me look because they sounded completely different than all the others. Sounded great though. I want the Silver ceramic pipes. I thought about getting Black with chrome heat shields.

well, I'd kill to hear those pipes before I buy some.....I gotta take Greenman's word for it...

I'm 'jes trying to decide now, whether to get the short version...or the extended 5" version...decisions...decisions...decisions....

black with chrome heat shields would look awesome...not sure it would suit my bike though...I've got a crappy H-D red/silver paint color...

talking about paint...at bike week a coupla weeks ago...I saw the most BEEEYOOOTIFULL color scheme I've ever seen....it was a kinda candy red/orange with a brown inlay....I was practically tripping over my own slobber..it was so gorgeous....
