You don't really want to ride in DC unless you have a death wish, we go every year to Rolling Thunder and are escorted by the Park Police and I guess most everyone does get the same escort, but my friend retired from the maintenance garage, if you ever need a police style saddle bag let me know. DC is great to go and see museums, National Shrine, Zoo, etc. but the drivers are wild and some are high with cars that only have brake pads on the left front wheel etc. I know that from experience, I was on a ramp that had a hard curve and concrete barrier on both sides and waiting in the middle of the turn for the light to change when a car comes up behind me fast and slams on the brakes, only one was smoking and he almost hit me. My natural reaction was to jump off the bike and go kick his a$$, but I took one look and quickly realized he wouldn't have felt a thing, he was just as high as he could be. So I just tried to keep my distance.
But Rolling Thunder is great, you see all kinds and them some. The city can also be very nice and there is alot to see, I guess I just take it for granted being I have lived here for 50 years come November.

1Big'n, you need to putt on up to Johnstown, PA the last week of June for Thunder In The Valley.
You won't find a nicer, more affordable Rally anywhere in the country.
"$15,000, a new leather jacket, and 15 miles under your butt does NOT make you a biker."

I'll keep that in mind, I like riding in PA it's not only beautiful but I get to take my helmet off. That's a long ride from Florida to go to small rally for a weekend or is it all week long.

I trailer the Scoot up and ride all week.
It's my old hometown - born and raised.
But that doesn't mean I'm biased - it really is a nice event.
The "official" Rally runs from Thursday thru Sunday, but some folks (like me) start showing up around Tuesday.
Google it.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
It REALLY is a fun time, and if you know where to go, it can be as mild or as wild as you want it to be.
