All-Ladies Colorado BDR Ride

Majestic scenery, challenging terrain, bragging rights. The Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route offers it all traversing the state of Colorado from border to border. We will journey North to South, adhering to the original, as-mapped-out COBDR as much as possible. We’ll pass over some of the highest roads available to motorcyclists in the United States, several of which are over 12,000 feet. We will traverse Ophir, Corkscrew, Hurricane, California, Cinnamon, Cumberland, Cottonwood, Weston and Hagerman passes, riding about 650 miles through some of the most rugged and scenic landscape in America on one of the most respected routes an adventure rider can ride. Let us support you all the way with an all-female industry-known tour guide team, on-tour professional motorcycle coaching and mentoring, as well as chase vehicle services. Let’s have a custom-made epic adventure together.

When: Two separate Tours, Summer and Fall
July 23-30, 2017  [Immediately following the ADVWoman motorcycle Rally in Granby, CO] Sept. 3-10, 2017  [With two days of training offered Sept. 2-3, 2017]

Where: Colorado, North to South

Preferred Motorcycle: Any street legal dual-sport bike capable of traveling 55MPH with a fuel range of 100 miles is suitable. Bigger bikes require more skill and fitness. Smaller bikes are easier.

Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced dual-sport riding skills necessary (BDR essentials class or specific skills waiver required)

Cautions: Medium to High level of fitness required, altitudes of 12,000+ feet in some sections

Maximum People = 10 women (+4 guides)

Colorado Motomarathon @ Winter Park, CO

Motomarathon will run both of its 2017 events out of Intrawest resort properties: Winter Park in Colorado and Snowshoe in West Virginia.

“Both locations are nationally known for skiing, mountain biking, and now for motorcycling,” said John Metzger, Motomarathon founder. “The twisty mountain roads of Colorado and West Virginia are tailor made for our long-distance motorcycle sport-touring format.”

The Colorado Motomarathon is set for Sept. 8-11, and the West Virginia Motomarathon for Sept. 28-Oct. 1. For a $50 fee, participants receive precisely engineered routes for four days of daylight riding.

Motomarathon routes are kept secret until the night before each day’s ride. Participants complete a series of self-recorded checkpoints, photographing their badge numbers at designated landmarks. Each rider will receive a paperback copy of Metzger’s new book, Meditation by Motorcycle – Riding Your Carbon Footprint to the Apex of Enlightenment.

Italian Motorcycle Owners Club (IMOC) 34th Annual Rally @ Hamilton Rod & Gun Club

The Italian Motorcycle Owners Club (IMOC) has announced that its 34th Annual Rally will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2017 in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. Some 300+ Italian-made motorcycles will be on display at the Hamilton Rod & Gun Club, 24 Hamilton Road, Sturbridge, MA 01566 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
The IMOC Rally is America’s biggest and longest-running all Italian motorcycle event. Italian-made Scooters are welcome, as well. Proceeds to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). It’s said that “you’ll see anything and everything” at the IMOC Rally.
In addition to such recognized marques as Moto Guzzi, Ducati, Aprilia, MV Agusta, Vespa , Bimota, Benelli, Moto Morini and Laverda, such legacy brands as Gilera, Aermacchi, Motobi, Cagiva, Mondial, Lambretta and more
are routinely on exhibit. Not to mention such rarities as Maserati, Ceccato, Iso, ItalJet, etc. Parilla will be this year’s Featured Marque. Judging will take place in 15 Classes, along with People’s Choice, Longest Distance Traveled, Highest Mileage and Best-of-Show Concours Awards.
Admission is $10 per person or $15, two-up, which includes a commemorative Annual Rally pin and door prizes. The Hamilton Rod & Gun Club is an idyllic setting, nestled within the Massachusetts countryside, and the Show takes place beside lovely, Hamilton Pond. The ride to and from is an experience in itself, for those who opt to take the two-lanes. Interstate access is also available for those on a schedule. Food service and refreshments are available on site. Dealer displays and Swap Meet spaces are also available. No pets are allowed.
