Riders had a blast at the Cleveland Ride for Kids on June 12, which raised more than $45,000 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.
The 150-plus participants gathered at the Independence Fieldhouse Soccer Fields to ride for local brain tumor survivors Aime, Ashley, Kaelee, Lon and Rebecca. These Stars led the ride through the countryside before returning for an inspirational program.
“The funds that are raised, the efforts that you make and the patients whose lives you touch can’t be understated,” said Dr. Tanya Tekautz of the Cleveland Clinic.
Star Lon agreed. “It means so much that so many people came to support us,” he told the crowd.
Event proceeds fund childhood brain tumor research and family support programs such as college scholarships.
“I have a friend whose daughter…has battled a brain tumor for some time and she was awarded a PBTF scholarship for college. You all are directly responsible for that and for all the good work of the PBTF,” said emcee Dawn Kendrick, health reporter for the local NBC affiliate, WKYC Channel 3.
Donations are still being accepted online at www.rideforkids.org/cleveland. Fundraisers will receive incentive credit through July 13.
